Week 11 Review
Hello, League-Mates! Welcome to a very special addition of the Fantasy Report with Carl!
It's Thanksgiving Day, and I am sure that all of you are looking forward to eating as much as possible and sitting back and watching football. One thing I will say that I am thankful for is that the Bears aren't playing today, and I don't have to have my Thanksgiving dinner ruined by awful coaching. Seriously, how the hell does Matt Eberflus not think that he's getting fired after the season?
Anyways, I wanted to take a look back and say a few things that I am grateful for:
1. Fantasy Football. My life would not be complete without Fantasy Football. I cannot describe how much I love it, despite constantly getting kicked in the nuts by it. I believe it was once me who stated to Johnny, "I like Fantasy football." Don't believe me? Ask Johnny. Or don't. Whatever, it's a free country.
2. My League-Mates. Yes, that's right, I am thankful for all of you. If it weren't for you all, I wouldn't be here writing this, and I definitely wouldn't be enjoying football as much as I do. It's a strange thing to think that this league started out as a Town and Country league, featuring Dan Iwinski, Mike Murnick, and the Hambricks. Definitely a crazy thing to think about how far we've come, with only a handful of original members still intact. We have grown so much as a league, as well as individuals. In that timespan, we've seen each other get married, get engaged, start families, buy houses, do burnouts in someone's new, unfinished yard; as well as career changes, and retirement. I wouldn't trade any of you or any of it for the world.
3. Tank Dell. I cannot stress how much I appreciate my genius when getting Tank Dell in Free Agency.
4. My amazing writing skills. Did any of you really think that I wouldn't be thankful for something that is uniquely me? I spend quite a bit of time during the weekends watching everyone's match-ups trying to figure out a way that I can make them my muse. Hours of going through my personal catalog of music, movies, TV shows, and literature help me produce the elegant words and thoughts I give you all each week. It's truly a difficult task, but I love the challenge, and I love giving you all something to look forward to every Tuesday, sometimes Wednesday, and occasionally Thursday.
5. Thanksgiving Dinner. I absolutely love Thanksgiving Dinner. The Monday prior to Thanksgiving I start to get so excited that I just can't hide it. I have been fasting for the last 96 hours in preparation for the meal I am about to enjoy. You would think that starving myself that long would have some serious side-effects, but surprisingly there haven't been any. You can ask Jesus, Santa Claus, and the weird looking rabbit sitting on the couch next to me.
6. The Catholic Cannon. I really wish that the Catholic Cannon didn't have to retire, but sometimes the money and the fame just isn't worth it, and I had to know that it was time to move aside and make room for the next gunslinger. But I will be forever thankful for my rocket of an arm, and the sonic booms it produced and sent out through the morning air over Joliet.
I leave you all with a quote that I recall from our younger days that Ian so poetically wrote:
"Ian and Patrick said to the fly, "Go forth little bug and find us a bear. We gonna eat a bear!""
I wish you all peace, love and Fantasy Football prosperity.
Sincerely,
Carl
